1 June 2025
The annual Kamakura Omachi Festival will be held again this year.
This year, it will take place for three days, from Saturday, July 12th to Monday, July 14th. On Saturday, the Reitaisai (annual festival) will be held in the morning, followed by the Shinkosai (portable shrine procession) in the afternoon, and the Mikoshiburi (portable shrine shaking ritual) in the evening. On the following Sunday, a lottery event will be held at the Yakumo Shrine grounds in the evening. On the final day, Monday, stalls will be set up within the shrine grounds, and the Kankosai (portable shrine return ceremony) will be performed at night.
It has long been said that the Kamakura Omachi Festival promises "warding off epidemics and bringing good fortune and prosperity."
We sincerely look forward to your visit.
